All General Practitioners and authorised Nurse Practitioners are eligible to prescribe direct acting antivirals (DAAs) for the treatment of hepatitis C on the PBS General Schedule (s85) without requiring specific training or accreditation. However, most community-based practitioners have not previously provided hepatitis C treatment and care, and many have, and will continue to, seek training to increase their confidence and capacity to prescribe.

ASHM maintains a map of Medical Practitioners and authorised Nurse Practitioners who prescribe direct acting antivirals for the treatment of hepatitis C and have attended a full day ASHM training in hepatitis C. This map does not represent all practitioners trained, only those that have agreed to be listed on the website. Consumers can search the map to locate a local prescriber by entering a location, postcode or suburb and specifying the km in the search field. All prescribers meeting that search criteria will appear as flags on the map, with a drop down list displaying the name and practice location of the prescriber.

The s85 Locator Map is available at: https://www.ashm.org.au/HCV/s85-locator/.
